Her character is in the midst of a major storyline, and she received an Emmy nomination this year. That makes it even more surprising that actress Marci Miller has decided to exit Days of our Lives.

In a stunning development, Marci Miller has decided to exit her role as Abigail Deveraux on NBC's Days of our Lives.

Though the actress has made no public statement, a show source tells Soap Central that the recent Emmy nominee will exit the soap to pursue opportunities in film and on primetime television.

Soap Opera Digest, meanwhile, cites a source as saying, "Marci has been planning [her exit] for awhile."

It's unclear exactly how long Miller could have been planning her departure, since she only took over the role of Abigail in November 2016. In Miller's first full calendar year in the role, she landed an Outstanding Lead Actress Daytime Emmy nomination.

Meanwhile, Kate Mansi, who played Abigail from 2011 to 2016, will reportedly be reprising the role of Abigail -- albeit only for a short time. Mansi earned an Outstanding Supporting Actress Emmy win in 2017 and subsequently left the show. Miller was hired as her replacement.

A Days of our Lives spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

News of Miller's exit was first reported by Daytime Confidential.
